Customer Review…Dragon Riders of Roar

Alfie reading Dragon Riders of Roar.

One of our most popular children’s books at The Imaginarium is The Land of Roar by Jenny McLachlan. It’s a series that is full of dragons, wizards, adventure and much, much more. It fits in well with our wider range of fantasy books, and most people know how much we love dragons at The Imaginarium. Readers have been swept away by the story of Arthur and Rose; and have been eagerly awaiting the next instalment Dragon Riders of Roar.

Thanks to Harper Collins, we were able to gift an advance copy to one of our younger customers, Alfie. We asked Alfie to write us a little review just in time for the release of Dragon Riders of Roar, which we’ve put below. Dragons Riders of Roar is the fourth book in the series, so we’ve put a little summary of the series for those of you who are yet to discover the books.

Summary

The series follows twins, Arthur and Rose, who once created a magical world called Roar in their imaginations, filled with dragons, mermaids, and a ninja wizard, where they were heroes; however, as they grow older, Roar becomes a distant memory until their grandfather mysteriously disappears into the world through a folding bed in the attic, forcing them to return to their childhood fantasy to rescue him, confronting a sinister scarecrow villain named Crowky along the way.

The Land of Roar series is one that celebrates the power of imagination and finding the greatest adventures in the most ordinary of places – perfect for children aged 8, 9, 10 and upwards.

Alfie’s Review:

It is a very book with many plot twists and turns, hard to put down because you want to know what happens next. I loved hating the new character. This is the fourth book in the series. It is even better than the first three because of the new characters, my favourite is Jago Skua – a powerful bad guy with a huge dragon.

Arthur is very brave; Rose is creative, and Win is cool. Great to have another book in the series and to visit the land of roar again. They work together as a team, they all really good at dragon riding and saving the land of roar.

I would recommend this to children who have read the other books. It is an amazing build up to a final showdown, involving marshmallows and flame.

It will be good for children who like books by MG Lennard [and who like] adventure fiction.

I would give it 9 out of 10 (I never give 10 out of 10).

Dragon Riders of Roar is released in paperback on February 13th and is £7.99.
